I am originally from Seattle, WA and moved to San Diego in 2002 to attend the University of San Diego. My husband, Aaron, and I have been married for 11 years and have three children. We are both educators and I have been in education both at the K-12 and college level since 2006. I hold a BA in sociology with a minor in ethnic studies, a CA single subject teaching credential in social studies, and a Master of Arts degree in leadership with an emphasis on education reform.

A great amount of my experience is working with underserved populations, culturally diverse student populations and low income families. Outside of my role with Inspire, I love going on adventures with my family, exploring new cultures/communities, traveling, singing, and being creative! I am passionate about supporting families as they unlock and develop their child’s unique strengths!

Hello Inspire families, my name is Ami Adkins and I am so excited to be a part of the Inspire Schools team!

I started my teaching career (many moons ago!) in Early Childhood Education before earning my B.S. in Elementary Education and Multiple Subject teaching credential, and later Master of Education from Grand Canyon University. I have taught overseas in Guam (during our Navy years) and the last 20-odd years here in San Diego. I have taught in public, private, and charter schools during my teaching career. I have worked with all grade levels pre-k through high school, as well as in teacher training with pre-service teachers.

My favorite teaching environments have been those that are child-centered, emergent and holistic. My personal education philosophy most closely aligns with Waldorf and Reggio Emilia, where student-driven learning with teacher facilitation allows for experiential and deep learning. When I entered the Homeschool teaching world, I was thrilled to find that the individual approach of homeschooling allowed students and families the flexibility to tailor their education to unique student and family needs.

I am a SoCal native born in the L.A. area and have lived the last 25 years here in San Diego. I’ve been married over 30 years and we have 3 twenty-somethings. Two are launched and as we send our youngest off to their senior year of college, my husband and I are excitedly planning our post-parenting life! We love to camp, hike and backpack and are looking forward to increased outdoor adventuring. When I am not serving my wonderful homeschooling families, I enjoy live music and theatre, coffee at Lestats, yoga, swimming, skiing, and frankly just being outside in our fantastic San Diego climate. I am looking forward to a fabulous year with our Inspire families!

Hello! I am incredibly excited and honored to be working for Inspire!

I grew up in the Sacramento area and have lived in SD for 16 years. For the last 9 years, I have been married and my husband and I live in San Marcos with our 4 kiddos (ages 6, 5, 2, and 3 months). We love California for the beach, mountains and everything in between and spend lots of time outdoors camping, hiking, etc. I also enjoy playing soccer, reading and watching movies.

Besides my family and the great outdoors, education is a passion of mine! This is my 12th year as a teacher. I earned two credentials from SDSU (multiple subjects and single subject history). Then, I taught 6th-12th-grade students in the classroom for 9 years before becoming a charter teacher. I have loved becoming well-versed in the world of homeschooling and seeing the incredible things parents do with their children to help them grow into life-long learners. It is rewarding to be a part of the home-school journey for students and their families!

I grew up in the beautiful Napa Valley and have lived in San Diego for over 15 years. I graduated from SDSU (go Aztecs) with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. In addition to obtaining a California teaching credential, I have a master’s degree with a child development concentration from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.

Prior to joining the Inspire family, I taught kindergarten, second, fifth, and sixth grades in Del Mar Union. My enthusiasm for home-based education is guided by meaningful connections with families, flexible choice in learning, never-ending curiosity, teamwork, current events, critical inquiry, diligence, and joyfulness.

When I’m not teaching, you can find me playing sports with my husband and two young boys, relaxing at the beach, making chocolates with my mom, traveling the world, or trying new things like yoga on a paddleboard!

I am a California native who attended UCLA (Bachelor's), Claremont Graduate University (Master's), and Azusa Pacific University (Doctorate). I taught 17 years at the middle and high schools levels, and loved it! I primarily taught history and language arts, as well as coached various sports. In addition, I served as the ASB director . . . It was a blast! My expertise includes differentiated and personalized learning, social and emotional learning practices, assessment, as well as document-based question writing.

My wife and I are privileged to be able to homeschool our three children, who are ages 5, 7, and 10. I enjoy spending time with my family fishing, camping, swimming, and coaching my children's baseball and soccer teams. In my spare time alone, (which isn't as much as any of us would like :), I like to read and run.

I get to experience all of the amazing things that our Inspire families are doing at home to provide our children with the most enriching, personalized education possible. Now I get to implement all of the wonderful things that I see every day in my own home. Happy Homeschooling!

I bring 31 years teaching experience to Inspire Charter Schools. Graduating in 1987 from SDSU with a Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential, I spent 13 years teaching elementary grades K-2 in Solana Beach. 18 years ago I entered the charter school world, first working with adults securing their high school diplomas and then I moved into Home School working with students grades TK-12. I enjoy working with families and students, helping them develop a personalized educational plan to ensure each student's success. Working with students learning in all methodologies including unschooling and Waldorf brings me great joy. Some of my favorite past times are reading, yoga, enjoying nature and spending time with my family.

Hi, Inspire family!

While I have only been with Inspire a short time, I already feel like I have found my “Forever Work Home.” After 20 great years in the Poway Unified School District as a high school English teacher and assistant principal, I am loving the challenge and the rewards that come from working in the home school environment, especially working closely with families to tailor learning opportunities that foster growth and a love of learning in their students.

With my best friend and wife of 18 years, Amie, we home school our three kids and appreciate the flexibility and the personalization we can offer them as they progress in not just academics, but the equally important soft skills of loving-kindness, generosity, creativity, athletics, and altruism. I am a San Diego State graduate with a degree in English and an emphasis in expository writing. I grew up on a farm in Oregon until the age of 11, and after playing traditional sports in high school like football, baseball, and wrestling, I learned to steer wrestle in college and spent a couple years chasing rodeo dreams. You won’t find me wrestling steers or rodeoing anymore, but you might spot me trying to catch waves with my kids at San Elijo State Beach.

We love having the freedom to bring our books and boards to the beach or skatepark and learn in the same environment in which we play. I am passionate about learning playfully and the joys and connections that come with it, and Inspire is hands-down the best school for parents, students, and teachers that share my viewpoint.

My name is Julena Calcote, and I've been an Inspire Homeschool Teacher for two years. Prior to Inspire, I taught 1st grade at Salt Creek Elementary School in East Chula Vista for five years before deciding that I needed to explore new teaching opportunities that match my teaching style. I have an eclectic teaching philosophy; I believe that all children learn differently, therefore, multiple avenues of learning need to be explored. I also know that not all children fit in the same cookie-cutter mold of learning, and if we aren't supporting each child's individual learning style, their love for learning may dissipate.

Besides being a Homeschool Teacher for Inspire, I am a wife and a mother of 3.5 year old identical twin girls who mean the absolute world to me. I love singing, dancing, vacationing in foreign countries, and just hanging out with my family.

Originally planning a career in science, I earned a bachelor degree from San Diego State University in Astronomy, but then went on to earn a Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential, as I found I LOVED teaching science to children! Early on, I worked at a charter school as a teacher, science specialist, technology director, and librarian. After taking time off for child rearing, I began working for a homeschool charter at the same time my oldest daughter started homeschooling, and joined Inspire in Fall 2018, my ninth year of homeschooling.

An unschooler myself with children enrolled in Inspire, I love the freedom to educate my children as I best see fit. I enjoy discussing with my roster families all of the different ways students are learning outside of the traditional classroom, and all of the resources Inspire provides to make it happen.

The mother of three girls, I am active in our small mountain community, organizing weekly get-togethers and functions for the mountain children. I enjoy spending time outside in the woods around our home with my family, our road trip adventures, and curling up with a good book!

I’m excited to be part of the Inspire team where I’ll have the opportunity to support homeschooling families as they build lifelong learners.

It is a privilege to serve families at Inspire as a Homeschool Teacher. Before Inspire, I spent 20 years teaching English literature, Spanish, choral music, and general education at the high school and junior high levels.

Having an M.A. in Educational Counseling along with teaching experience in public, private, and international schools, has given me the opportunity to grow personally and professionally. Having had my own elementary aged children in a variety of school settings (public, private and home school) has reinforced my passion to advocate for the homeschool community. I appreciate creative teaching methods that support diverse learning styles. I am dedicated to being a resource and encouragement to both parents and students.

During my 10 years teaching grades 7-12 science in San Diego Unified School District, I conducted over 50 field trips. My passion is connecting youth with nature.

When I’m not teaching, you can find me hiking, playing the piano, gardening or tending to the animals on my hobby farm in Jamul. I volunteer for Boy Scouts of America as a den leader for my 6 and 8 year old sons.

After a 10 year career in sales, I happily returned to teaching when my 2 sons were toddlers. I have been working in Homeschool now for 5 years and have gleaned so much from this community of families. I admire the commitment of Homeschool parents to their children, to their values, and to dedicating their lives to teaching. My goal as a HST is to encourage, guide, and advocate for my families.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with friends and family, staying very active, reading, and traveling.

I graduated from CSUSM with a degree in Sociology in 2005. I then pursued my teaching credential, and graduated with a middle school emphasis, qualified to teach both English and social studies in 2007.

After 4 years teaching in a charter school brick and mortar classroom, I ventured to the world of online learning in 2012. I taught as a high school English teacher for 4 years online. I loved teaching Creative Writing, Brit Lit, and grammar and language to 9-12th graders. While I enjoyed teaching these amazing subjects, I was excited to get hired on at Inspire in January, 2016.

Since working as an HST at Inspire, I have been afforded the opportunity to truly know my students and their families. I love how Inspire desires teachers to work alongside families and mold to the family's personal educational philosophies, rather than enforcing a particular curriculum, or philosophy that comes from the board at Inspire, which is what happens at most educational facilities. Inspire truly seeks to service the whole child, and requires that I do my best to accommodate all different types of learners. I have always been fascinated with differentiated learning, and backwards design. Inspire allows me to do my best to ensure that each child truly receives an individualized education.

In July 2018, I had my fifth baby. My husband and I are blessed with Harrison (10), Henry (8), Hallie (4), Hudson (3), and recently born, Holden. My husband is a high school teacher at our local high school. He also is the head varsity basketball coach, and keeps busy throughout the year with games, practices, and tournaments. I am very familiar with the home school parents' venture to wear many hats, and juggle family, education, the household, and extracurricular activities, as my kids are active in sports, music, and school. I have a heart to make sure that each parent gets the support from me that they deserve. I strive to encourage, support, and visit families as often as needed to make this home school journey as enjoyable and exciting as possible.

For fun, I teach Jazzercise on the weekends and afternoons. I also try to stay active running. I like to help at my church when I can, and do my best to volunteer at my kids' schools. We love to get to the beach, the pool, and outside for hikes or adventures as a family whenever possible.

After graduating from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, I moved back here to my hometown of San Diego in order to pursue my teaching credential. I went to San Diego State University for both my Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential as well as my Master of Arts in Teaching. I began my teaching career in a traditional public school where I worked for many years as a kindergarten, first, second, third, and fifth grade teacher.

I eventually got a wonderful opportunity to become a Homeschool Teacher for Inspire Charter Schools- I have enjoyed meeting many new students, families, teachers, and amazing people in this Inspire community. I love seeing the flexible, unique, learning adventures that our students have with Inspire. I also enjoy supporting parents and experiencing the incredible growth their children make throughout the year!

When I’m not doing Inspire activities, I love baking, being outdoors, and exploring our incredible city with my husband and two little ones… And my 11 siblings. Yes, 11! I grew up in a blended family, and they are all so incredibly important to me.

I graduated from USD with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, received my Teaching Credential at Cal State San Marcos, and earned my M.S. in Education at National University. I taught for SDUSD for eight years as an elementary classroom teacher before becoming a stay-at-home mom to my two daughters. I love building strong relationships with my parents and students and seeing them thrive. I am a homeschool mom of three boys. I'm originally from Virginia, and went to university in Provo, UT. After getting my degree in Elementary Education, I have taught in regular public school, public charter school, a hybrid charter homeschool and in a full time homeschool setting. I absolutely love working with Inspire parents! My husband and I homeschool our oldest son while keeping a careful eye on the two crazy littles! We speak German at home so that the kids can communicate with their amazing Oma in Germany. We love learning, and cherish childhood for our boys. Our family loves to stay up late while camping and watch the stars at night after smores are done. I'm quite familiar with TJEd, Charlotte Mason, and have dabbled in and admire Waldorf and Montessori styles of learning. I've been trained specifically in Saxon Math, Shurley English, and Spalding Spelling phonograms. My favorite simple go-to curriculums right now are Kahn Academy math, Bravewriter for Language Arts, SciTT Kits for Science and historical fiction for history.

I love to create art, go hiking, take jillions of photographs, eat fabulous food, help in Cub Scouts, and read fantastic thought-provoking books. I've been at Inspire 3 years now and love the atmosphere of teamwork and optimism that thrives there!

I earned my Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology from San Diego State University and soon went on to earn my Clear Multiple Subject BCLAD Teaching Credential (Bilingual, Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development) through BECA; the San Diego Unified School District Intern Program. After several delightful years teaching in the traditional public school setting, I married my husband, Chris, and became a stay at home mom to our three children. During their early years I taught a lively after-school Spanish enrichment program in Southern California.

I feel fortunate to have had the pleasure of homeschooling my own children, using the Classical method for ten years, which afforded me the opportunity to teach English grammar, writing and Spanish in the homeschool co-op setting.

I thoroughly enjoy helping parents choose curriculum that best suits the needs of their children and watching both the students develop into life-long learners and the parents into outstanding teachers!

Hello! I am so happy to be a part of the amazing Inspire team of teachers.

I grew up in small town Iowa where I received my Bachelor's in Elementary Education/Minor in Literacy from the University of Northern Iowa (go, Panthers!). Later I received my Masters in Teaching from National University.

I feel my diverse background in teaching for the past twelve years has prepared me well for this role. I started out teaching middle school language arts in a public school in Plano, Texas, then taught fifth grade at a private Montessori school in Encinitas. After that I was a private homeschool teacher for three very diverse families over the course of six years. I believe that every child is a learner in their own unique and beautiful way, and I love making lasting connections with my students and their families. :)

My husband is a high school special ed teacher and we have three children of our own (7,5, and baby). We love living in Encinitas and feel it is truly a magical place to raise a family! We also realize just how lucky we are to have our summers off as a family together. You can find us at the library, on the trails, at the beach, or grabbing a bite at Taco Stand.

Inspire has been the perfect job for me because I strongly believe that each and every person has their own unique way of learning. I love working with my families to help them give their children their own personalized education plan to help them grow and become successful!

I have been in the field of education for 17 years. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Albion College in Michigan. I worked in marketing for 8 years before I turned to the field of education. In 2011 I completed my credential program at CalState Fullerton. I later completed my credential clear program with SDSU.

I have worked as an environmental educator, a public school teacher, and have spent the past 8 years working as an educator for charter schools, virtual schools, and homeschool components. I am skilled in Project Based Learning (PBL) and Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) which is why I am thrilled to be a part of the Inspire Schools Family where we can combine our talents as a learning team to provide families with truly independent learning opportunities that meet their needs. In my downtime I love gardening, adventuring in the great outdoors and relaxing with my family.

Teaching and Education have always been my passion. I received my BA in Liberal Studies from California State University, San Marcos. Then, I moved into the teaching credential program immediately. Finally, I received my MA in Educational Leadership with an administrative credential. My experience in the classroom setting was from 2001 until 2012. Most of my experience was 1st through 4th grade in Carlsbad Unified School District.

My own dreams of homeschooling led me to begin this journey with my oldest. We both started with a charter school where I could homeschool her and support other families who had the same dreams and aspirations. We have continued to homeschool as this is our 8th year. It is easy for me to understand and empathize with families as I am in the trenches each day as well. In my spare time, I love to support my girls with their competitive dance schedule, spend time with my family, and read as many books as possible.

My name is Deborah “Deb” Reichert and I am originally from Fresno, CA, but I have been happily calling San Diego home for the past 20 years. I have 3 children- 2 daughters and a son, and can usually be found chasing them around our home, the beach or a playground. I love being outdoors, reading, dancing, swimming, eating and spending time with friends and family.

In college I studied Spanish and because of this I was fortunate to study abroad and visit many Spanish speaking countries, including Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Colombia and Ecuador. I received my teaching credential from SDSU. I worked as a classroom teacher for South Bay Union School District in Imperial Beach. I taught 5th, 6th and 1st grade.

This is my 3rd year working for Inspire Charter Schools and love it! I feel very happy to have the opportunity to meet so many incredible families and develop a partnership with each of you. Just like you, my home doubles as a school/art studio/library, etc. I feel that the best education develops at home and you have shown me many ways that I can enrich my children’s lives.

As a San Francisco Bay Area native, I am newer to the Southern California lifestyle, but have adapted at warp speed and absolutely love being "a local". I obtained a BS in Speech Pathology and Audiology from CSUEB back when it was still call 'CSUHayward'. I went on to get my teaching credential from Patten College and taught for Pleasanton Unified Schools for the first several years of my teaching career.

My shift from brick and mortar schools to charter stems from my time and experiences homeschooling my own four daughters. I love the opportunity to fine-tune an educational course to meet the social, academic and emotional needs of each child. My goal as an HST is to be a supportive and encouraging cog in the wheel of an amazing experience for both the parent educator and the student. My own four girls approached learning in four very different ways; likewise, each student on my roster is unique and specially talented and deserves to be seen as such. Consequently, my desire is to help cultivate an educational journey which meets and feeds the unique qualities and talents within each child.

Spare time is a precious commodity! When I have it, I love to experience anything carefree and fun with my girls. They are growing up so quickly; I cherish each and every opportunity to giggle and smile with them.

Hi! My name is Corey Reschke, and I'm SO excited to be a part of Inspire's Teaching Team this year! I'm new to Inspire, and I'm looking forward to this next chapter in my teaching profession. I live with my husband, and brand new baby girl in North Park. We love going to the beach, reading, and traveling!

I'm originally from Orange County, and went to college at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. I graduated with a BA in Liberal Studies, with an emphasis in Child Development, and I received my multiple subject teaching credential from National University.

I have been teaching in the classroom for the past 12 years, with grade levels ranging from preschool through sixth grade. The last nine years, however, I was in a fourth grade classroom at a private school in San Diego's north county, and LOVED my time with those sweet fourth grade students. Although I'm new to the official homeschool teacher role, I'm familiar with many of the methods of homeschooling and homeschool curriculum- especially the classical model as that was used at my previous school.

I would love to add you to my roster this school year! I have a passion for teaching, and would love to support you in your homeschool journey! Looking forward to a new year of learning!

A southern girl from Texas, I attended Texas A&M University in College Station. I majored in Middle School Education, focusing on Math and Science. After teaching middle school for a year in Texas, I expanded my certification to include high school mathematics. My husband is a former Marine aviator, so throughout his career, I have taught in Texas, Mississippi, Virginia, South Carolina, and finally here in California where I found my teaching home with Inspire.

I love working with families to facilitate the best learning experience for each child. The variety and flexibility Inspire offers is such a blessing to myself and my families. I learn something new each time I meet with my families, and am always happy to share my love and knowledge of math.

I’ve been both a teacher/mentor and a student in many settings over 35 years. During my college years at UCSD, I supported students as a math, economics, and writing tutor at the campus OASIS Tutoring Program Center. After earning a B.A. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Management Science - with a minor in Literature - I worked as a Software Engineer at Hewlett-Packard. My position included developing curriculum and teaching research and development lab engineers about best practices of scheduling management and data integrity.

Desiring to merge my technical background with my love of writing, I then moved on to work as a Technical Writer and Editor. After having my 1st child, my interest began to focus on children and family. I trained as a pregnancy and childbirth educator and taught workshops. I also led library story time and arts-and-crafts programs collaborating with preschool teachers in supporting youth literacy. But my greatest passion was homeschooling my own 4 children. I served my children as teacher, mentor, guide, and curator of learning. They in turn served me by teaching me that education is best when it’s tailored to individual needs, interests, and passions; that outside-of-the-box learning kindles curiosity and engages the heart; that connection to community – co-ops, field trips, volunteering, mentorships, internships, travel – richly expands the “classroom”; and that ultimately learning and living are inseparable.

I eventually became a vendor, and - over the years - with my own children in-tow, I taught English, Spanish, history, art history, and self-directed learning skills in a formal learning center, in others’ homes, and in my own home. In 2013, I enrolled at the High Tech High Graduate School of Education and joined the staff at an independent study/homeschool charter school.

I am excited to be working for Inspire and continuing to work with my wonderful students. As a former homeschool mom myself, I believe in the many benefits, both educational and personal, that homeschooling provides. This is my 12th year working for a homeschool charter, and I'm honored to be able to support and share in my families journeys through this amazing resource.

I educated my own three (now grown) kids for 18 years, K-12th grade; starting in Alaska when homeschooling was still a new option. And, although the days were long, the years were short! Spending time with them is still my favorite thing to do.

BC (before children) I taught World Geography at a brick and mortar high school. I majored in Political Science and have a single subject TK-12th Social Studies Credential. Consequently, I am a history geek, and in free time you'll find me reading a political thriller or historical fiction book.

I am excited to begin my journey with Inspire! I love being a teacher and working with families to individualize the learning process for each student. I began on my pathway to education at California State University, San Marcos, where I earned a B.A. in Liberal Studies, followed by a Multiple Subjects credential. While attending college, I taught piano in group and private settings and substitute taught throughout the local north county San Diego districts.

I have taught in the charter and public school settings for 10 years, including sixth grade, reading intervention, science lab, and independent studies. My passion is finding the keys that unlock learning for each student.

My children and I embarked upon our own personal homeschool journey three years ago. Finding the combination of teaching/learning styles, compatible curriculum, and learning environment has been a constant monitor/adjust process. Even within a family, each individual has personal needs, desires, and strengths to consider. Working with each child (my own and my students) is a joy and challenge I undertake gladly. It is an honor to work with families and help to customize the educational process to bring about success!

I started teaching in 1999 in a traditional classroom setting- and over the years taught all grades k-8. My favorite grade to teach was 1st grade- I loved seeing how much they learned. I have been working with homeschool families for the past 11 years. I believe that education looks different for every child and every family. I feel so very fortunate to work for Inspire - a school that allows parents the freedom and support to create a learning environment that is ideally suited for their individual child/children- and allows them to focus on their interests/passions. My family and I enjoy spending time at the beach, bay and harbor. Growing up I had the experience of a non-traditional education and was homeschooled from grades K-12. I understand the unique challenge of building curriculum, modifying lessons to tailor learning styles, and how important it is to find a program that is a perfect fit for each student. I believe my homeschooling education was invaluable in properly preparing me for higher level learning as it taught me to be independent, self-motivated, and creative.

I moved to Beautiful San Diego to work towards my Bachelors in Liberal Arts and to receive my Teaching Credential from San Diego Christian College. My teaching experiences have been primarily in a more traditional classroom setting teaching TK-1st grade. I really enjoyed coming up with creative curriculum to inspire my students to ask questions and dig deeper into our subject matter. As a kindergarten teacher, I really learned how to problem solve on the fly and be flexible to the needs of small bodies with big minds and personalities.

I am drawn to Inspire's educational approach of collaborating with families to tailor an academic experience for each student.

I would love the opportunity to support you and your students this year!
