504 Plans

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance, including public schools. Eligible students with disabilities may receive accommodations and supports that provide equal access to educational programs and activities.

At Pacific Coast Academy, we partner with families to identify and remove barriers that may affect a student's access to learning. When a student is determined eligible under Section 504, a team develops an individualized 504 Plan outlining reasonable accommodations based on the student's unique needs. 

If you have concerns that your child may have a disability affecting their access to education, or if you have questions about the Section 504 process, please begin by contacting your child's homeschool teacher (HST). Your teacher will work with you and, when appropriate, collaborate with Student Support to discuss next steps, including the referral and evaluation process.
