Field trips are a core part of each student’s Personalized Learning Plan at Pacific Coast Academy. Our field trip program offers over 500 experiences and schedules 2–3 trips every school day, bringing lessons into the community to deepen understanding and build civic connection. Trips include museums, science centers, farms, businesses, outdoor labs, and more — all planned for safety and learning.

Business & Community Tours
Discover how our community runs with Pacific Coast Academy’s Business & Community Tours! Students visit local grocery stores, post offices, police and fire stations, restaurants, and more to observe real-world jobs, practice interviewing professionals, and map how services connect. Great for civics, economics, and career exploration.
Marine Science Floating Lab
Students aboard the Floating Lab explore oceanography firsthand—observing bay conditions, studying marine organisms in their offshore habitat, and deepening their knowledge of the marine environment.
IFly
Students experience physics and math in action with live physics demonstrations, hands-on STEM activities, and one-on-one flights.
SoCAL Mini Pigs
Meet the mini pigs with Pacific Coast Academy — a hands-on lesson in animal care and behavior! Students will observe feeding routines, learn about pig physiology and habitats, and discuss responsible pet stewardship. Great for practicing observation notes and informal data collection.
Theater Thursdays
Pacific Coast Academy hosts multiple live performance and theater show field trips throughout the school year, giving students regular opportunities to experience the arts, build confidence, and connect classroom learning with live storytelling.
Strawberry Fields
Explore plant life and local agriculture with Pacific Coast Academy on a hands-on strawberry picking field trip! Students will observe plant growth, practice measuring and counting harvests, and learn where our food comes from while enjoying outdoor learning.
Historical Tours
Discover the past with Pacific Coast Academy on an engaging historical tour! Students will investigate primary sources, practice critical questioning, and connect local history to broader events through guided exploration.
Whale Watching

Medieval Times
Students Experience the Middle Ages in this 90-minute, curriculum-linked show: an educational presentation on medieval life, castles, and nobility, followed by thrilling jousting, swordfighting, and horsemanship.
Exotic Bird Sanctuary
Explore biodiversity at Pacific Coast Academy’s visit to the Exotic Bird Sanctuary! Students will observe bird adaptations, record behaviors, and compare habitats while learning about conservation and species diversity.
San Diego Seal Tour
Experience San Diego from land and sea with Pacific Coast Academy on our San Diego Seal Tours! Students will ride the historical land-and-water vehicle, observe seals and other wildlife in the bay, and learn San Diego’s local history through guided narration. Perfect for combining ecology, history, and observation skills in one memorable field trip.
